The Hardest Part of Backpacking

Social media does a great job inspiring me to get outside and do the damn thing, but it’s easy to forget that behind each pretty video and relaxing sound bite, is a whole lot of conflicting emotions, body aches, and other discomforts.

Backpacking is type two fun, meaning it ain’t all sunshine and rainbows, AND…

Similar to dealing with difficult emotions in real life/real time, backpacking brings up similar discomforts that may never feel enjoyable in the moment.

Bagging a peak or seeing wild animals can most definitely make a backpacking trip more enjoyable, however, I like to think that regardless of what you experience on the trail, the fun *really* begins when you acknowledge the courage and bravery it takes to exist in discomfort, INSTEAD of ignoring it.
